In the past years, my unreserved passion for my community and anger towards racism and injustice led me to speak out and join protests against injustice. Though I have faced rejection from my community for the political stance I have taken recently, I love my people. My strategy in fighting racial injustice may have changed, but my sentiments towards it haven’t. Ironically, my desire to see a change in the Black community is one of the primary reasons I have taken my stance. In 2020, I found myself praying intentionally and intensely for the Black community. As I prayed, I believe God revealed that He wants to restore the Black community and gave me the Book of Nehemiah as a biblical picture of His restoration plan.
The six things are as follow:
Shift the culture:
Music and media have had a huge influence on the direction of our people, both good and bad. But there will be a new sound. God is shifting the culture towards exalting the risen Savior Jesus Christ, righteousness, and positivity, and IT WON’T BE CORNY. No longer will you allow culture vultures and hidden enemies to infiltrate and monetize your destruction. An appetite that has already been created for positivity and godliness in our community will enlarge and take over our culture. This will lead to a significant mindset shift amongst the people, a decrease in crime, and change the trajectory of many families and communities.
No longer will you be known for fatherlessness but will be known for strong fathers. Being present and emotionally available will become the new normal. Cycles of abuse, brokenness, and poverty will be broken. Marriages will be strengthened, celebrated, and cherished.
Break Economic Barriers
The solutions and answers to fixing the Black community’s economic disparities will not come from the government. It will come from God, through people who genuinely have the heart to serve the community. Those who have been oppressors of not just Black people but also the poor will be exposed, and so will their oppressive policies. You will birth new ideas, and this time they won’t be stolen. You will build cities, not just homes. You will no longer ask or protest for positions and seats at tables, but you will be sought out because of the favor upon you, not just your skin color as an empty symbolic gesture. You will transform education. Entire households will come out of poverty, leaving in droves from government housing.
Raising up Real Leaders
New leaders will rise, leaders who will stand for righteousness, create sustainable solutions, and truly serve the people’s needs and interests selflessly. For decades you have been treated like numbers and pawns to suit agendas and ambitions, much of which was of little benefit to the community. The gatekeepers, the real sellouts, exalted in our culture to help maintain the status quo, will be exposed.
Reconnecting with your Ethnic Identity
One of the most powerful revelations I’ve ever received was that African-Americans sold into slavery during the Trans-Atlantic slave trade were of Israelite descent, Jews of the tribe of Judah. Along with this revelation, God revealed that this lost identity is the main reason for the issues plaguing the Black community in America. When people don’t know who they are, they can be used and mistreated by others and also destroy themselves. God, Yahweh loves his people, but his people strayed from Him and his ways and were deceived. Many have turned to ancestral worship, witchcraft, and African religions, searching for their spiritual identity, rejecting Christianity as the “white man’s” religion. But the word says the gospel is for the Jew first, (His people by blood) then the gentiles (Romans 1:16). Jesus is Lord regardless of His skin color, and He alone is to be worshipped by all people. Our forefathers, who knew of HIM before they were ever slaves, rejected Him, our people wound up in bondage.
But God says:
If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. 2 Chronicles 4:17
“I will restore your health, and I will heal your wounds,’ declares the Lord.” — Jeremiah 30:17
The Lord says it is time to be healed from the hurt and pain that racism has caused. No longer will you be emotionally manipulated by the replaying of the trauma you faced. The anger and hatred you have must go. When it does, you will experience freedom as you find out the truth about your identity, exposing agendas, propaganda, and false allies. This is not about ignoring your history and not holding the system accountable. It is about YOUR peace, prosperity, and fulfillment of God’s calling for your life, all of which are of far greater worth than holding on to anger and unforgiveness.
