This past Saturday, I had the privilege of attending a show that felt as sacred as it was stylish the YESUGOD presentation during Fashion Week at the historic Riverside Church in Harlem.
Walking through the stone archways of that legendary cathedral, I felt as though I had been transported to Paris or Rome. Even though the runway was set in one of the church’s more intimate chapels, the soaring architecture, stained glass, and warm ambient lighting gave the entire event an ethereal air.
Before a single model graced the runway, the evening opened with prayer. A representative of the brand took the podium to share their mission: to keep Christ at the center of everything they create. In a space where faith is rarely acknowledged, it was moving to watch a fashion house openly honor God and invite everyone, believers and seekers alike, to pause and reflect.
As guests settled in, a violinist played delicate covers of worship songs, including a few by Forrest Frank. At one point, members of the audience softly joined in singing. Later, a pair of praise dancers offered a brief but graceful performance that felt perfectly at home in the setting.
When the models finally took the stage, YESUGOD’s collection spoke volumes. From crisp jean shorts and sleek bomber jackets emblazoned with “Jesus” to elegant trench coats and silky fabrics adorned with scripture, every piece struck a balance between high fashion and bold testimony. These were garments you could wear to brunch, the office, or an evening out, clothing that sparked conversations while celebrating faith.
Seeing Christian creatives thrive in an industry as influential as fashion was deeply inspiring. YESUGOD’s designs proved that modesty and modernity can coexist, and that believers don’t have to compromise style to represent their convictions. I especially loved a couture-style dress featuring the phrase “The Lord Is Coming”. It was powerful, yet beautifully executed, a reminder that faith can be worn with both elegance and confidence.
The show featured familiar faces, too: actor and singer Nathan Davis Jr. walked the runway, along with other Christian influencers and athletes. After the presentation, guests mingled freely with the models, who posed for photos and chatted warmly with attendees. The atmosphere was celebratory yet reverent, a seamless blend of fellowship and artistry.
As I left Riverside Church, my biggest takeaway was excitement not just for the brand’s future, but for what it represents. YESUGOD is carving out space for designers who approach fashion with excellence, purpose, and boldness. I pray their reach continues to grow across the U.S., from New York to California and beyond, encouraging more believers to create with the same courage and creativity.
YESUGOD’s Fashion Week debut reminded me that wearing our faith doesn’t mean sacrificing beauty or craft. When done with vision and excellence, it can empower us to live unashamed, to spark meaningful conversations, and to carry light into every room, even onto the runway.
